This weekend I took my boys to the first Salt Lake City Feis. The feis was well organized and the Acadamh Rince, formerly known as the Webber Academy of Irish Dance are to be congratulated on a successful event!
My six-year old son had his first feis and he proudly wears his medals for all to see.
My eight-year old son fianlly medalled in Beginner 1 (phew!) and he is so proud of his first place medal.
My eleven-year old son medaled in several of his dances, but was hoping to place higher. He is in that stale stage where dancers can stay for a good while before moving into prelims. He and his classmate did win second place in the two-hand figure.
Sometimes I wonder if all of the lessons, practice, costumes and spending of saturdays at a feis are worth all of the hassle. But then I see how much character and self-confidence my boys are earning from Irish dancing, and I realize that it's all worth the effort.
Cute pictures! I'm so jealous of your boys in Irish dance, I can't get it to take with mine, they are all about the sports.
