Mairead Hewitt passes away at the age of 100
Mairead Hewitt, one of the founder Members of An Comhdhail, passed away on August 24, 2009, two weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday. Prior to her death, she was the oldest Irish dance teacher and adjudicator in the world. On her centennial birthday, Michael M Fennell, Chairperson of the Dublin Branch of An Comhdhail, asked Mairead, "What was the secret of her continued long life?" To which she replied, "I looked after myself and never spoke ill of anyone, so avoiding any stress or unnecessary worry. It's most important to be happy".
